As of September 2017, the newest Mystery Case Files games are region-locked to the Japanese 3DS eShop, meaning that you have to be in Japan to download them. With Myst Case Files and the upcoming Invisible Worlds, you have to go through the Japanese eShop for them. The 3DS and the Joy-Con controllers don't exactly work on all games either, so some of the recent games are only compatible with one or the other. With this new Mystery Case Files game, Return to Ravenhearst, it's for both 3DS and both the old and new controllers. If you've played Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst, then you'll already know what to expect. This game is different in that it's not just a Hidden Object game. In addition to the typical hidden object scenes, you'll also have to solve puzzles in order to progress through the game. With this in mind, you may want to plan to watch a movie or read a book at the same time because the game may take you a long time to play. Remember that you have to browse through the game to find the objects in the game. If you're not fast, you may lose track of where you are in the story and have to start all over again. Finding all of the objects in the game can be fun, but it can also be very tedious. It's not perfect by any means, and it also has a bit of a learning curve. Despite all of these downsides, I think this game is still worth the $2.99 price point.

Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst is a short-lived spinoff adventure game from designer "Mekem" that follows the story of the original Ravenhearst. Like the original title, Return to Ravenhearst plays as a point-and-click adventure game and is much more story-driven than the Hildesheim series. Still, if you're looking for a different approach to the genre, this is a good choice. Return to Ravenhearst is perfectly playable even if you've never played the original. In fact, if you love puzzles and adventure games, you'll definitely enjoy this game. If you're not familiar with the series, you'll also learn a bit about it on the way.
